Laura Squicciarini was born in Altamura, a town in southern Italy, in 1983.
She came to photography as an adult, while working as a secretary in a wedding photography studio.
In 2019, amid the pandemic, she decided to dedicate herself more consciously to photography and enrolled in the Piccola Accademia Fotografica (PAF), becoming a member in 2024.
Throughout her studies, she took part in Circle, a year-long photographic project that culminated in a group exhibition. At the same time, she attended various workshops with international photographers, including Giovanni Cocco, whose mentorship proved particularly significant for her personal and professional growth.
Since 2023, she has been working on What Remains – Memories of Campo 65, a long-term photographic project documenting the story of one of the largest Fascist prison camps in Italy. Combining archival research, personal testimonies, and reflections, the project explores the anthropological ties between past and present.
In 2024, she deepens her visual research on Campo 65 by taking part in an annual masterclass led by Ulilearn and Nicolò Filippo Rosso, focused on the development of long-term photographic projects.
